Apra-MN is a place to learn, teach, and to share with one another our talents and understanding. Each year, we hold an election for new board members. This year, we have FOUR openings for new board members! In mid-August, we will start accepting nominations for candidates and in September, a voting survey will go out to all current members.
What does being on the board entail?
Nominations are open to anyone who is a current Apra-MN chapter member and has been a member for one year or more or is a current member with out of state Apra chapter membership history.
Board meetings are 1 hour per month (10-12 months per year) and committee work (in person or virtual attendance).
Attend the Apra-MN annual conference each year.
Regularly attend events hosted by Apra-MN.
A board term is 2 years.
What does a board member bring to the table?
Passion and enthusiasm for Advancement/Development, prospect research and management, and fundraising in general.
Willing to be a leader and ambassador for the chapter and our members.
A drive to make positive contributions and changes as the world of prospect research grows and faces new challenges.
A drive to bring diversity to our members through content, speakers, leadership, membership, and ideas.
A small commitment of time that is often encouraged by employers and counted towards everyday work commitments.
What Apra-MN is looking for in our new board member nominees is a passion for our work and a commitment to helping everyone grow in our industry. Introverts and extroverts alike make great board members! Not only does a board leadership position look excellent on your resume but it can also be a way to learn a new skill or help feed a passion. Our board is always looking for folks who are interested in helping to create programming, take on marketing and social media needs, promote diversity through content and mentoring, and so many other skills that make you or your nominee great!
If you are interested in nominating yourself--that is encouraged and welcome! Nominees will be contacted prior to the election form going out in September.
Many thanks to our amazing Apra-MN community!
Andrea Dowd, Apra-MN Vice President and Incoming President
