The Birthplace of Apra
Bring your lunch and join us at Macalester College on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 for a virtual seminar called "Shameless Self Promoting for Prospect Researchers".Description: Inside most development organizations Prospect Research rarely is part of the leadership structure that it should be. Usually it's several layers down the org chart and not fully understood, underused and even not respected by many field development officers. This is a historic issue with being a Prospect Researcher, lower pay and lower authority. Successful development organizations rely on key data produced by strong and empowered Prospect Research teams. Instead of sitting around at APRA and complaining ...do something about it internally. How can you promote your department and work inside of a larger development organization? Understand how you can see your work used more effectively, improve your careers and raise more money for your institutions!Schedule: The virtual seminar will run from 12 p.m.-1:00 p.m., and will be followed by roundtable discussions from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Location: We'll be meeting in the Leonard Center in the Hall of Fame Room, located on the lower level of the building. Look for number 11 on this map for the location: http://www.macalester.edu/about/maps/ (Please note that the campus-side doors to the Leonard Center will be open. The doors facing Snelling Avenue will not.)
Parking: The Leonard Center has a small parking lot, and parking is also available on Snelling Avenue and in other lots on campus. The campus is fairly small and most parking options are within a 5 minute walk to the Leonard Center. Here is a link to the parking map: http://www.macalester.edu/about/maps/map_parking20100524.pdf
Cost: This virtual seminar is free for APRA-MN members, and $25 for non-members. (Payment of the non-member cost entitles you to a one-year membership in APRA-MN.)
