The Birthplace of Apra
How are you? No, really. How ARE you?
There's a lot of talk out there about burn out, stress, and self-care. As fundraisers in the trenches, we may experience a higher rate of stress during the calendar year end. This workshop is an open, safe space, to come and learn that you are not alone and hopefully walk away with a couple of tools to cope with potential career overload.
Often those who have careers in nonprofits chose to combine a career with a passion for giving and/or 'fell into' them on their way to other goals. Which, often means we're giving more of ourselves than our for profit counterparts. In addition, those who do the often tough unglamorous work behind the scenes, do much of this giving work with less reward. We are a generous group, we are adept at creating space and success for others. The goal of this workshop is to create space and community for ourselves as individuals, to build ourselves and each other up.
Kristen Barlow will be leading the group discussion. Kristen has been in nonprofit fundraising for 11 years, much of that spent in research, prospect development, and donor management. After years in nonprofit, she reached a crossroads in her career path and went to therapy to help her deal with the stress. After spending much of her time explaining the ins and outs of fundraising to a therapist, Kristen came to the conclusion that a coach who knew about nonprofits would be ideal - however, she couldn't find one. So she became one. Now, Kristen is a certified Transition Resilience and Empowerment coach, and the Principal Owner and Visionary for CrystallineVision LLC, a Fundraising consulting and Personal coaching agency.
