Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. central time
Mary Kiolbasa has been with Vanderbilt University for the past five years, where she currently serves as director of Research Projects. Her small team focuses on prospecting new parents and overseeing other special projects. Previously, Mary worked for four years at Kroll Background America, who were acquired by and merged with HireRight, an industry-leading background screening firm. As a licensed private investigator, Mary spent two years as a subject matter expert in employment, education, and professional license verifications. She spent two additional years as a research analyst on their Executive Intelligence team, where she oversaw high-level executive screenings. In addition to case management and QA of vendor research, Mary prepared comprehensive research summaries while conducting in-depth media and supplementary online public record searches. Mary’s early work history included several years of administrative, library, and publishing work. She credits her work-study position in the Knox College Special Collections and Archives for sparking her interest in research and teaching her methodologies she continues to use daily. Mary holds a B.A. in creative writing and classics from Knox College and an MFA in poetry from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
