Grab your lunch and join us for Apra-MN's January 2023 Lunch & Learn!

This month, we will be joined by Kari StokosaAssociate Vice President, Research & Prospect Management at the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association.

Session Description

It takes a wide variety of strengths and skillsets to effectively perform prospect development work and not everyone excels in a one-size-fits-all role. At Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association, the Research & Prospect Management team works collaboratively as three well-defined teams which utilize inherent strengths while meeting the full spectrum of the Advancement cycle. This session will discuss how the Prospect Identification, Prospect Research and Prospect Management teams work together to support fundraising at WFAA.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the variety of services a well-resourced Research & Prospect Management team can provide.
  • Encourage collaboration across Research & Prospect Management groups to create a cohesive team.
  • More deeply engage employees by letting skills and strengths guide primary deliverables to development clients.

Speaker:

Kari Stokosa is the Associate Vice President, Research & Prospect Management at the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association. She has led the RPM team since 2013 and has been at the Foundation since 2010. Her current position requires her to wear many hats: leading the fifteen-member team providing prospect research, prospect identification and portfolio management to fundraisers, collaborating with advancement and development leadership, partnering with data and business solutions teams, and providing training for new employees and campus partners on RPM policy and related CRM systems procedures. She has served as committee member for the Great Lakes Prospect Development Forum, as Apra Wisconsin chapter board and committees member over the years and in 2020 was awarded the Apra WI President’s Award. She recently completed her role as chair of Apra’s Prospect Development conference after serving on the planning committee the past 3 years. She is a frequent speaker having presented for CASE, Apra and FORUM in the past.

Prior to her tenure at WFAA, Kari worked in Development at the YMCA of Dane County and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. She also has experience in the world of finance; having spent three years in Private Banking at AMCORE Bank. She moved to Madison to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison which is where this mother of 2 young adults resides with the family dogs, Doug & Buddy.
